Lionel Messi has talked about his future ahead of the start of the 2024 Copa America, he revealed which team will be the last in his career.

At the age of 36, it’s no surprise that Messi is coming to the end of his “unmatched” career. Accordingly, Messi has now confirmed the club where he will retire.1

In a recent interview with ESPN Argentina, Messi has said that Inter Miami will be his last club.

The owner of the 8 Ballon d’Or said: “Inter Miami will be my last club, yes. From today onwards, it will be my last. I love playing football, I enjoy everything more because I’m aware that time is getting less.”

This may come as a surprise as many expect Messi to end his career with the Argentine team – Newell’s Old Boys, the club where he started his career.

Back in 2023, El Nacional reported that Messi will look to re-emerge from Newell’s Old Boys when his contract with Inter Miami expires in 2025. Speaking in March, Messi announced that he would pause his career when he felt he could no longer help his teammates:

“Atomic fleas” said on MBC’s Big Time Podcast, according to ESPN: “I understand the moment when I can’t play, I don’t enjoy football, that I don’t help my teammates then I’m going to stop.”

Over the years, Messi has broken a series of records and continues to establish himself as one of the best footballers of all time.

After winning the 2022 World Cup against Argentina in Qatar, many fans have labeled Messi the undisputed GOAT (greatest of all time) of football.

Last summer, the player born in 1987 left Paris Saint Germain to move to MLS team – Inter Miami. Since then, he has scored 25 goals in 29 games and saw former teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba join the club.
